Stars in the City
Oh I can't see the stars in the city
I can't see through all of this haze
So I'm going on back down the bayou(Terrebonne)
to the place where I once ran away
As a young boy at night I'd stare up at them lights
and drift with my dreams in the sky
but now all these dreams are clouded it seems
like a thick patch of fog rolling by
There's so much you can do in the city its true
Something every night of the week
But after the rent and the bills are all paid
well there's barely enough left to eat
Well the city girls keep up with the fashions and stuff
And they know all the hip things to say
And though they are cool I'm still nobody's fool
I'll take my bayou belle any day
